England all-rounder Jodi Grewcock has committed her future to Essex Women by extending her contract until the end of the 2028 season. The 21-year-old left-handed batter and right-arm leg-spin bowler has agreed to fresh terms with the club following a significant period of development and international recognition. Grewcock made her England debut on May 10, 2026, in an ODI against New Zealand at Chester-le-Street, where she claimed her maiden international wicket.

She made a second ODI appearance a week later against New Zealand at Sophia Gardens in Cardiff and has been selected for the squad to face Ireland Women in September. Essex Cricket official sources confirmed the contract extension on Tuesday, August 17.

Stephen Parry, who is the head coach of the Essex Women's team, expressed his satisfaction with the development.

"Jodi has had an amazing journey so far, and it is wonderful to see her talent and commitment being recognised." Parry was quoted as saying by BBC.

Domestic form and international pathway

During the 2025 season, Grewcock featured in 17 games for Essex, where she amassed 383 runs at an average of 34.81 and also accounted for seven wickets. She has also represented Southern Brave in The Hundred competition and was selected for England A Women's tour to Australia at the start of the 2025 season. These performances have demonstrated her progression through the international pathway and her value to the club moving forward. The contract extension reflects Essex's confidence in her development as a dual-skilled player capable of contributing with both bat and ball at the highest levels of the game.

"I am very excited to be signing this new contract here at Essex. I am looking forward to continuing my journey at the Club, whilst working hard and hopefully contributing to success. We have an ambitious group and good support to build something special over the next couple of years," Grewcock said.

"I am grateful for the opportunity and trust shown in me, and I am ready to give everything I can for the Club," she added.
