JOPLIN, Mo. — Joplin’s Momentum Bike Park is playing host to a leg of the USA qualifiers in an international tournament.

It’s called The UCI Pump Track World Championship. That’s where bikers use their bodies and the turns of a track to generate momentum trying to finish with the fastest time.
Saturday, despite the heat, the event was absolutely packed. The bikers with the fastest times then compete in knock out heats to decide who will go on to race at the international level.
We caught up with one rider, Amelia Renaldi, who has been biking almost all her life, to see how she was handling the heat.

“I feel like they’ve got us some pretty good stuff in that rider’s tent. So, you know, you just get some water in between that, stay pretty hydrated,” said Renaldi.
Event winners were crowned at 9:00 P.M. Sunday.
