Most of what we see in preseason NFL games doesn’t matter at all, as many of the snaps that are taken up by players in those games are from players who won’t play more than special teams snaps during the season. However, with the some members of the Green Bay Packers’ first-team offensive line getting extra snaps in week one, there are very important snaps to be watched there. First and foremost, that is the case for new starting left tackle Jordan Morgan.

Morgan has struggled somewhat in his career thus far, which has come overwhelmingly playing right guard. That position does not befit his skillset, but due to necessity he ended up playing there for much of his first two seasons. Last season, through both pre-season and the week 18 matchup against Minnesota, Morgan showed much more comfort at his traditional home of left tackle, and that largely continued in the first preseason game of 2026.

There isn’t a lot to write home about with Morgan in this game, and I mean that as a compliment. The best thing you can say about an offensive lineman is that you don’t notice him at all, and that’s basically what happened in every snap of this game, bar a few. The best one being Morgan finding the poor soul who found himself in a run fit he didn’t want to be in.

Picking on corners in the box isn’t a traditional part of the job, but it makes for fun clips.

On the downside, I think this is the only bad snap from Morgan the entire game, and I’m not even 100% sure it’s on him since for some reason we don’t get an endzone view of this play. This looks like outside zone toss, so Morgan should in theory be working down the line of scrimmage and up to the second level to meet Patrick Queen (#6), the play-side linebacker. Instead, after giving a quick hand to the left guard, Morgan works to seal the back-side linebacker in, but center Sean Rhyan has already beaten him to the spot, which makes sense because in outside zone, this would be Rhyan’s responsibility.

Wish they had an endzone view of this play so I could see the leverage of the LB better. Someone blocked the wrong dude. pic.twitter.com/46ohopceJf

I could clip the rest of the reps, but it’s mostly just textbook execution. Morgan gets nice push on some combo blocks with the guards, seals his own guy on multiple runs, and allows zero pressures in the pass game. The pressures part is once again notable; across 107 left tackle snaps between last pre-season, the week 18 Vikings game, and last night’s game, Jordan Morgan has allowed one total pressure. Morgan is listed by PFF with two allowed, but one of those is an aborted play by Clayton Tune that they still haven’t updated because they apparently hate me, personally. That gives us a pressure rate allowed of 0.93%. Not 9.3%. 0.93%.

Is Morgan going to post a sub-one percent pressure rate in the regular season? Not unless he’s a first ballot Hall of Famer. But the fact his pass protection has been so strong back at his home of left tackle is extremely encouraging for the Packers offensive line this season. The biggest outstanding question for me is his effectiveness in the run game, a place where Rasheed Walker struggled mightily. If Morgan can be closer to average in that department and be a plus-pass blocker, Green Bay will have a real stew going at offensive tackle.
