When Jordyn Tyson jogged off the practice field with an injury on Thursday, the hope was that the New Orleans Saints‘ first-round pick had avoided anything significant. However, upon providing an update on the young wide receiver on Friday, Saints head coach Kellen Moore sparked some concern with his wording. Moore revealed that the Saints are still collecting information on Tyson’s injury in order to get a better idea of what his recovery timeline will be. “It’s something we’re going to continue and collect some more information, just as far as what that timeline looks (like),” Moore said, per Luke Johnson of NOLA.com. MORE: 4 NFL rookies with the most breakout potential in 2026 Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football was concerned about that response. The injury is to Tyson’s right hamstring and it occurred when he “just kind of got caught in a goofy spot” before being shoved to the ground, Moore explained. Moore added that the injury is “not anything related to a previous hamstring (injury).” When it comes to Tyson’s status for the start of the season, Moore said the injury “could” impact his ability to be ready for Week 1. (Credit: Stephen Lew-Imagn Images Credit: IMAGN IMAGES via Reuters Connect) There is extra concern for Jordyn Tyson’s hamstring injury given his history. Tyson suffered a hamstring injury in his final year in college, and the issue lingered all the way into the pre-draft process. That led many to believe his stock would take a hit before he ended up being a top-10 pick. The Saints were extra cautious with him during the offseason and limited Tyson before he was ultimately unleashed in training camp. MORE: Fantasy football WR rankings & tiers: Buy Waddle, fade Nabers And, by all accounts, he was having a strong summer. “Jordyn’s had a great camp, he’s played really good football,” Moore said. “Inevitably, this is the unfortunate part of what preseason and training camp football is, obviously we’ve had a few of these guys have something come up.” Tyson’s injury history extends beyond just the aforementioned hamstring issue. He actually had multiple hamstring issues last year, and he suffered a major knee injury in 2022 and a fractured clavicle in 2024. MORE: 8 retired NFL star players making their Hall of Fame ballot debuts in 2027 Tyson’s talent has never been in doubt, but his ability to stay healthy has. When healthy, Tyson is slated to be the No. 2 wide receiver in New Orleans’ offense behind Chris Olave and he will play a huge role in the continued development of second-year quarterback Tyler Shough. — Enjoy free coverage of the top news & trending stories with The Big Lead Newsletter —
