LSU has been ranked outside the top 10 in the AP preseason poll, with the Tigers coming in at No. 11 ahead of the new campaign, but it seems like head coach Lane Kiffin isn’t too concerned about the preseason predictions.
Speaking to reporters soon after the poll was released, Kiffin made his feelings clear about the AP poll.
“I don’t think anything of it and that’s just not coach speak,” Kiffin said about the poll.
“We’ve been low a year ago and finished really high…and now more than ever it shouldn’t really mean anything. We don’t know as coaches let alone media or coaches know other teams, cause we barely know our own team how we’ll play cause you have so many new players.
“There’s no way you can figure it out and I haven’t studied it… but I bet you analytics from the last two years of polls and where people have finished compared to where they start probably have been a long ways off compared to years ago.”
Who Finished Where in the AP Preseason Poll?
While Lane Kiffin doesn’t seem too fussed about LSU’s No. 11 ranking in the poll, Ohio State leads at No. 1.
Oregon is second, and Georgia is the highest-ranked SEC team at No. 3. Steve Sarkisian’s Texas is ranked No. 5, while the Oklahoma Sooners round out the top 10. Dabo Swinney’s Clemson Tigers missed out on the top 25 altogether with Missouri taking the final place.
