Justin Thomas watched on in admiration as Scottie Scheffler romped to victory at the FedEx St. Jude Championship last week.
Scheffler has been the dominant player on the PGA Tour this season, despite the fact that he hasn’t won as many tournaments as he did in 2024 and 2025.
The 30-year-old world number one has two wins and 12 top-5 finishes to his name in 18 starts this season.
This season, Scottie Scheffler has finished runner-up five times on the PGA Tour as well.
The crazy thing is that he has actually received criticism for his 2026 season.
However, it’s clear to see that, had a player like Justin Thomas enjoyed a similar season, everyone would be lauding him.
Thomas has actually been hugely impressed by Scheffler this season, and it’s impossible not to be really.
How PGA Tour players reacted to Scottie Scheffler’s FedEx St. Jude win
Thomas made an appearance on the Golf Channel Podcast on Monday.
The 33-year-old was asked how the PGA Tour players reacted to Scheffler’s runaway victory at the FedEx St. Jude.
“I think now there is not really much talk of it any more. It’s obviously incredibly impressive what he has done the last couple of years,“ Thomas replied.
“There is a part of me that really, really respects the season that he has had in terms of the Player of the Year race most years is the same conversation, of you maybe have someone that looks like they have done more in some eyes than others and someone is more consistent. But really everybody’s definition of what Player of the Year is is different.
“I know there is a part of him, although he probably won’t admit it, that is thinking it’s nice to say I have now won for all the people that said I have been struggling winning. He has played a lot of unbelievable golf to where his resume of all the top finishes should not go unnoticed and unappreciated.
“I think when he goes and wins by that much at this point we don’t expect it, but it’s not as jaw dropping as maybe it once was.“

The fact that PGA Tour players are not shocked anymore by Scheffler winning golf tournaments by eight strokes is a testament to his unbelievable talent, ability and mental fortitude.
He has been so good over the past few years that we, as golf fans, expect him to win every time he tees it up.
Scottie Scheffler is showing levels of domination that we haven’t seen since Tiger Woods’ heyday.
If the 30-year-old continues along the current trajectory he is on, he could well go on to break numerous PGA Tour records.
As Justin Thomas said, Scottie Scheffler dominating PGA Tour fields does not surprise anyone anymore.
