Juventus fans invaded the pitch after the first half of their game against their Next Gen team, forcing the match to be abandoned.

The Bianconeri were leading 2-0, and Luciano Spalletti would have wanted the game to be completed so he could give more playing time to other members of his squad. However, that opportunity was taken away when supporters entered the pitch and forced the fixture to be stopped.

Fans Force Match to Be Abandoned

The supporters appeared to see the incident as an opportunity to get closer to their heroes, but the pitch invasion created a dangerous situation for the players.

La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that as the fans ran towards the players, one of them slipped and almost broke Federico Gatti’s leg.

The defender appears to have escaped serious injury following the incident, but the situation could have resulted in a significant problem so close to the beginning of the season. Juventus are working to ensure they are ready for their first league match, making the potential injury particularly concerning.

Spalletti would also have benefited from completing the fixture, as additional minutes could have helped him assess more players before competitive action begins. The abandoned match means he has one fewer opportunity to give members of his squad valuable playing time.

Juventus Turn Focus to League Opener

Juventus will now turn their attention towards preparing for their first match of the season this weekend. Spalletti has already had enough time working with the players to identify those he can rely on as he prepares for the opening league fixture.

The manager will hope the disruption does not affect the team’s preparations, particularly after the players were unable to complete the planned match against the Next Gen side.

For the players, the priority will now be to remain focused and ensure they are ready for the competitive campaign. Juventus supporters will expect the team to begin the season strongly, and the players will know that there is pressure to deliver a positive result.

It remains to be seen how the men in black and white perform in their first game of the season, but expectations among the fans will be high as Juventus begin their campaign.
