The Pymatuning Valley boys golf team defeated Mathews 140-193 Friday.
The 140 was an all-time nine-hole low for for the Lakers.
The four-over par as a team was the second lowest-score in team history, after the 2001 team, which posted a two-over 146.
Rylan Compan led PV with a one-under 33. He was followed by Andrew Wludyga at even-par 34, Logan Paul, 35, and Adam Croston, 38, to round out the scoring.
Also for the Lakers, Max Moores fired a 40 and Cameron Heath checked in with 50.
“We’re very proud of this team,” Lakers coach Jeff Compan said. “They have worked hard, and the score of 140 is an incredible score. We told the boys before the season that 146 was breakable, but we would all have to shoot our best round, and the boys did that [Friday].”
Compan hopes the improvement continues each day throughout the season.
“We are aware that 140 will be tough to beat,” he said.
The Lakers improved to 3-1 with the win.
