LSU football signed a 2026 class loaded with defensive line talent. Lamar Brown, Richard Anderson and Deuce Geralds occupy three of the top four spots among their position group in the 2025 class while edge Trenton Henderson ranks No. 15 at his position. Head coach Lane Kiffin talked about how unique it is to bring in a talented crop of young talent like the Tigers have. He recalled a conversation with Ed Orgeron, and neither could recall a time either of them coached a young core of defensive players like Brown, Anderson, Geralds and Henderson. "I was kind of thinking all the places over the years we've been and even when we've been together or separate, and neither of us has had that." Kiffin said. "It's really unique to have nowadays because now they're more spread out usually, where before you could take more numbers, you know, and so maybe then you hit on some and got that. But it's really exciting. All of them have a chance to play." The transfer portal changed how schools recruit high schoolers, often opting to bet on an experienced player to contribute immediately rather than giving youngsters reps in the offseason and throwing them into big-game situations. Kiffin also discussed a challenging SEC schedule as a barrier to playing younger players but also relished the unique opportunity he has with the talented crop from the class of 2026. "In an age that a lot of people play older portal players, it's kind of been lost a little bit of significant freshmen playing because there's challenges with playing them, too," Kiffin said. "They make more mistakes and with the challenging schedule and the way that it's set up now and more competitive than ever, it's even harder to have some of those games early, so it's a really awesome situation to be in."
LSU's defensive line rotation will be deep in 2026. The Tigers have talented young players, and LSU also signed transfer defensive tackles Malik Blocton and Stephiylan Green. LSU also returns defensive tackle Dominick McKinley. All three players have significant power conference experience.
