And then, there were none.
According to Matt Zenitz of CBS Sports, the Washington Commanders are expected to sign free-agent linebacker Krys Barnes. Barnes is the last remaining Carolina Panthers free agent from this offseason.
Barnes first joined the Panthers in August of 2025. He'd be released later that month, then signed back as a member of the practice squad ahead of the regular season.
Needing depth at the inside linebacker position, the Panthers moved Barnes up to the active roster in late November. He'd go on to appear in seven games—making three starts and amassing 23 combined tackles and half a sack.
Before his one-year stint in Carolina, Barnes split his first five NFL seasons between the Green Bay Packers (2020 to 2022) and the Arizona Cardinals (2023 to 2024). The 28-year-old and former undrafted free agent is now set to enter his seventh NFL campaign.
