UTICA, NY (WUTR/WFXV/WPNY) -- A Little Falls native and a graduate student at Utica University has found himself on a very prestigious list to start his final campaign with the Pioneers.
Tight end Logan Frederick was named to the D3Football.com First-Team All-American roster, according to an announcement made by the website. Frederick was named to the fourth team last season, as well as first-team All-Region, All-ECAC and All-Empire 8. He was also named the Empire 8 Torchbearer Award Winner last season for performance in the classroom.
The Little Falls graduate student is the first Pioneer to earn first-team All-American since wide receiver -- and New Hartford native -- Anthony Acevedo earned the honor in 2014.
Frederick made his way to Utica in 2023, transferring from the basketball program at Herkimer College to concentrate solely on football at Utica.
Last season for the Pioneers, Frederick played in 10 of the team's 11 games and caught 74 balls for 867 yards and 12 touchdowns, leading Utica to an 8-3 record. His 12 touchdowns led all Utica receivers, while his yardage was just behind former VVS standout Bryce Palmer.
Frederick also caught ten passes for 108 yards and two touchdowns in a 26-20 loss to Rowan to end the season in the Asa S. Bushnell Bowl last November.
Frederick and the Pioneers begin the 2026 season on Saturday, September 5 at Gaetano Stadium, where they will host Washington and Jefferson in the annual Believe 271 Bowl.
