Liverpool chances of signing much-needed star revealed Liverpool's first-team squad still needs a lot of work doing to it. At the moment, the three new players that have been brought in so far aren't the most exciting. Admittedly, Jeremy Jacquet does look like an extremely talented centre-back but, since he's never played in the Premier League before, it's unclear whether his pre-season performances will translate to England's top flight or not. Their attack is also in a bit of a shambles at the moment with the Anfield outfit not even managing to replace Mohamed Salah yet. Deals are obviously being worked on behind the scenes to rectify that issue but, at the moment, it's unclear when these are going to be finalised. And, with the end of the summer transfer window now edging closer, fans are wondering whether all the deals that need to be struck will be completed or not.

David Lynch shares his thoughts on Liverpool's chances of signing a new central midfielder Despite Liverpool's midfield being their most stacked area last term, the vast majority of the players used in the centre of the park underperformed. Dominik Szoboszlai was obviously the exception to this and, without the Hungarian among their ranks last term, there's not a chance that Liverpool would have been close to qualifying for the Champions League. Aside from the playmaker, Alexis Mac Allister, Ryan Gravenberch, Florian Wirtz and even Curtis Jones all failed to be the best versions of themselves. This caused the Reds to lose many of the midfield battles they were faced with and meant that opponents could often easily skip through their team and make their way into their box. Fans were obviously left concerned by this with many demanding that a new midfielder or two were signed. And now, journalist David Lynch has shared whether there's any chance of Liverpool signing a new midfielder this summer.

"[There is] close to zero chance that a midfielder is signed [by Liverpool] this summer, even in the event Jones leaves," Lynch said to Anfield Index. Liverpool will end up regretting their decision to not sign a new midfielder Liverpool may feel like they have enough midfielders among their ranks at the moment but, if the same players underperform again, they'll be in some serious bother. And, the fact that Jones is basically guaranteed to be leaving won't make things any easier. Indeed, Trey Nyoni is likely to be handed a much more significant role this term and, while he's a good player, he's still only young and Liverpool won't want to play him in two 90 minute matches per week. But, with the number of injuries that the Anfield outfit have suffered this season, it feels like that could end up being a real possibility. Many different options are still available on the market for Liverpool to sign such as Lamine Camara and Adam Wharton. Indeed, both would cost a decent chunk of change to bring in but, each of them would massively improve the Reds' ranks. Here's hoping that Liverpool see sense and make a deal a reality.
