Bradley Barcola to Liverpool Latest as Ferran Torres PSG Move Could Shift Transfer Talks

Paris Saint-Germain’s move for Ferran Torres looks increasingly significant for Liverpool’s pursuit of Bradley Barcola, with developments in France pointing towards a market shift that could matter at Anfield.

According to Fabrizio Romano on X, PSG have authorised Torres to travel for a medical after agreeing a guaranteed fee of €50m, or £42.7m, with Barcelona. The reporting also made clear that the player had already given the green light to the switch and that documents were being exchanged between the clubs.

The key update from Romano read: “Ferran Torres has already authorization to travel for medical at PSG. The transfer fee will be €50m guaranteed, as @ffpolo reported. Ferran said yes to Paris last week, as per @MatteMoretto. No training yesterday, today, tomorrow as clubs exchange documents in next 24h.”

He then followed that by stating: “BREAKING: Ferran Torres to Paris Saint-Germain, HERE WE GO! 💥 Deal confirmed for World Cup final hero as Barça receive a fee worth €50m from PSG. Ferran only wanted Paris and the agreement has been sealed after being at final stages for several days. All done.”

Ferran Torres transfer changes PSG picture

From Liverpool’s perspective, the immediate relevance is straightforward. PSG are strengthening in wide areas and, if further additions arrive as expected, the depth chart around Luis Enrique becomes crowded. That does not automatically force a Bradley Barcola exit, but it does create conditions in which negotiations can evolve.

Barcola has remained one of Liverpool’s major attacking ambitions this summer. The France international fits the profile of a high-level, multi-functional forward, and there has been a growing sense across the market that contact between the clubs has been serious. Ferran Torres joining PSG may not decide the outcome on its own, but it adds another layer to a transfer that is already active.

PSG asking price remains major obstacle

The central issue remains valuation. Previous reporting around the situation indicated that €120m, or £102.5m, would be unlikely to secure an agreement for Barcola. That is a substantial number, and one that reflects PSG’s public posture as much as the player’s quality and age profile.

For Liverpool, the challenge is finding a level that satisfies PSG without moving beyond what they believe is defensible in the market. There is a difference between opening positions and final outcomes, and major deals of this kind often close somewhere between those two points.

With Ferran Torres now set to arrive and other attacking possibilities also under consideration in Paris, PSG may eventually have to take a more pragmatic line. That does not mean a discount, and it certainly would not signal weakness. It would simply reflect the realities of squad planning and timing.

Bradley Barcola fee could settle near compromise

If this deal moves, the most credible landing point may be somewhere around £120m. That would still represent a huge investment from Liverpool and a significant sale for PSG, while giving both sides room to present the agreement as a major piece of business.

Barcola remains under contract until 2028, so PSG retain leverage. Even so, there is logic in considering whether this window presents the best opportunity to command a statement fee. Ferran Torres to PSG does not complete Liverpool’s work, but it could be one of the more meaningful steps yet in shaping the road towards a Bradley Barcola transfer.

Our View

As a Liverpool supporter, this is the kind of update that makes you think there may finally be a genuine route through. Bradley Barcola has always felt like a difficult deal because PSG do not need to sell and because any negotiation with a club of that scale is going to be slow, expensive and politically charged. Still, when they start adding more attacking players, the landscape changes.

From a Liverpool angle, Barcola makes a lot of sense. He is young, dynamic, direct and already proven at elite level. Under Andoni Iraola, you can easily imagine him thriving in a more aggressive, vertical system. Liverpool’s forward line has needed fresh top-end quality after a summer of change, and this would be exactly that.

The fee is obviously huge. £120m is serious money for any club, even one competing for the biggest honours. But if Liverpool believe Barcola can become one of the defining attackers in Europe over the next five years, then this is the sort of deal you make. Ferran Torres moving to PSG may not guarantee anything, but it does feel like one domino that could help the bigger picture fall into place.
