As Liverpool struggled and stumbled through the 2025-26 season, the general consensus was that the biggest weak point in a thin and lopsided squad was on the wings and that multiple new signings would be necessary in the offseason in order to get the Reds properly back on track.

The departure of legend Mohamed Salah at the end of the campaign only made the matter more pressing, and while the signing of Victor Muñoz from Osasuna early in the summer was a good first step, more was very clearly needed and it finally appears we may be on the verge of getting it.

That’s because world out of France via reliable reports today have the Reds agreeing personal terms on a five-year deal with rising star Paris Saint-Germain winger Ibrahim Mbaye, and along with that RMC Sport’s Fabrice Hawkins suggests there is no doubt who Mbaye’s next club will be.

Bayer Leverkusen are also said to have been trying to convince Mbaye, with the Bundesliga side perhaps better able to offer the 18-year-old a near certain starting role, but the draw of Liverpool and the Premier League looks to have won out—at least assuming a fee can be agreed with PSG.

If it can, Mbaye likely won’t be the only winger arriving from PSG, with 23-year-old Bradley Barcola remaining fully committed to joining the Reds for the upcoming season and talk of a potential double-deal that could see Liverpool pay upwards of £150M for the talented young duo.

If both arrive, and with Muñoz signed earlier in the summer along with a need to preserve a pathway to playing time for the talented Rio Ngumhoa, it could lend credence to rumours that Cody Gakpo could end up joining Tottenham and may himself already have agreed personal terms.
