Last term, Liverpool were miles off the pace and, while changes are being made to try and rectify that, there are still a lot of deals that need to be done before Liverpool are taken as serious contenders for the title again. So, the fact that the priority of one of the Reds' long-term targets has been revealed has made things a little clearer.

Liverpool need to get a move on and sign Bradley Barcola At the moment, it's clear that Liverpool are waiting for PSG to give them the green light to sign Barcola. The Frenchman wants out as he has proven by rejecting all the contract offers that the Parisian's have thrown at him. However, until their deals for Mika Godts and Ferran Torres are confirmed, the Champions League winners seem to have no intention of letting him go. But, with Barcola now expected to see Liverpool as his main priority, it feels like it should only be a matter of time before a deal is done. Obviously, it's all just a waiting game for now but, especially with all the recent updates that have emerged, Barcola joining Liverpool now seems like a matter of when, not if. And, while Richard Hughes may be exiting Anfield at the end of the summer transfer window, giving Liverpool the Frenchman as a parting gift would be a perfect way for him to end his time in L4.
