Liverpool transfer news: Fabrizio Romano confirms amazing double deal is now possible Fabrizio Romano has confirmed a double deal is now possible. Richard Hughes' time at Liverpool looks to be coming to an end. The sporting director is expected to leave the club for Al Hilal once the summer transfer window closes, meaning there is now a very clear deadline attached to the work he still has to do at Anfield. And there is plenty of it. Liverpool are changing rapidly. A new manager has arrived in Andoni Iraola, there are new faces in the squad and even new minority shareholders behind the scenes. It feels like a genuine changing of the guard at the club. But for all the change around Liverpool, there is still a feeling that the squad itself isn't quite where it needs to be. That could change over the next two weeks. The final stretch of the transfer window is going to be hugely important for Hughes. This is his last real opportunity to shape his legacy at Liverpool and, perhaps more importantly, leave Iraola with the tools he needs to succeed. Hughes deserves credit for playing a role in bringing Iraola to Anfield. If the Spaniard goes on to enjoy a successful spell, that decision will certainly look like a significant positive on Hughes' record.

But there is no getting away from the other side of the story. Liverpool were left with an unbalanced squad last season, with obvious weaknesses that were never properly addressed. Hughes has to take some responsibility for that even if ultimately it was Arne Slot who was fired. The players he signed could still go on to become excellent Liverpool players. It is far too early to write them off. But right now, it feels like Hughes is leaving behind a squad that still needs plenty of work. And that is why his departure is unlikely to cause too much emotion among supporters. There is no real sense of anger. Equally, there isn't much sadness. More than anything, there is a feeling of indifference. Hughes has a few weeks left to change that. If he can get the right deals over the line, address the biggest weaknesses in the squad and give Iraola what he needs, he can at least leave knowing he finished the job properly. If not, his time at Liverpool may ultimately be remembered as one that promised more than it delivered.

What's the best way to change that? Well, it would be to bring in two supremely talented footballers in Bradley Barcola and Ibrahim Mbaye. Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that this amazing double deal is now possible in his latest YouTube video. Romano reiterated that both Mbaye and Barcola can now leave PSG after the French giants brought in several new attacking reinforcements. However, he also stated that while Liverpool want both, currently the Reds think PSG want too much money for Barcola and Mbaye. So, the deal is on. However, there is still a gap between the two sides over the valuation. Obviously, Liverpool won't pay silly money for the duo. Especially, when PSG have already brought in their replacements and are therefore in a position where they have to sell. Both Mbaye and Barcola want to leave and their preference is to join Liverpool. So, the clock is ticking for Hughes to find a resolution, but the move is on, and what a great last parting gift that would be from the club's sporting director.
