Liverpool transfer plans for ‘fantastic’ star confirmed Liverpool still need to make a few changes to their first-team squad before the summer transfer window slams shut. At the moment, several deals are on the cusp of completion. However, until those players are pictured in Liverpool kits, they can't be relied upon as options for Liverpool to use. So, with deadline day edging ever-closer, it's getting to the point where things need to be finalised before its too late. The rumour mill has gone into overdrive which has caused many different links to start emerging. So, the sooner that the Reds get things ironed out, the better. This is why it's good news that they're finally figuring out their plans for certain players. Giorgi Mamardashvili is set to stay at Liverpool this season At the start of the summer transfer window, an entire rebuild of Liverpool's squad was mooted. Alisson was being linked with a move to Juventus and, with Ibrahima Konate, Andy Robertson and Mohamed Salah all exiting, it really felt like things were headed that way. This worried fans as, if Alisson actually did end up leaving, it would've meant that Giorgi Mamardashvili would have probably been their number one. Indeed, 'keepers such as Zion Suzuki and James Trafford were both linked with potential moves but, in reality, everyone knows that the Georgian would've been used as the number one. And, even though Mamardashvili played many games for Liverpool last term, his performances were far from ideal and he looked an awful lot worse than Caoimhin Kelleher, the 'keeper he replaced. Despite all the potential changes, according to an update from journalist Jack Lusby, it seems like Mamardashvili is staying put, for now at least.

"Liverpool were open to selling Alisson earlier in the summer but keeping him is the right decision," he wrote. "Told Giorgi Mamardashvili was privately disappointed in his debut season at #LFC and has acknowledged the need to improve his distribution. "Will be another campaign as No. 2." Liverpool need to seriously consider who their successor for Alisson is going to be Alisson is one of a kind. No matter which 'keeper Liverpool next bring in, they'll not be a patch on the Brazilian. In his prime, he was easily one of the best goalkeepers in the world and, even now, he could give most others a run for their money. However, now that he's 33 years old and has entered the final year of his Liverpool deal again, some serious consideration needs to be taken about who's going to replace him. If Liverpool could keep him forever, then they certainly would but, since his injury list has been getting longer each season, it's unclear how much longer the Reds can continue seeing him as their number one. Mamardashvili was supposed to be the next big thing with some people even calling him a "fantastic" goalkeeper but, if he doesn't heavily work on his game this summer, there's no way Liverpool can go into a season with him between the sticks. Here's hoping that the next goalkeeper that Liverpool recruit is the real deal and can live up to the standards Alisson has set in L4.
