In a recent report, The Sun claimed that Manchester United have set their sights on Crystal Palace star Adam Wharton. It has been mentioned that the Red Devils are eyeing a move to bring the English midfielder to Old Trafford, but are facing competition from Chelsea in pursuit of him.
Wharton’s Impressive Form In English Football
Wharton enjoyed a good run of form at the London club in the previous campaign when he put in a string of impressive displays for them in the middle of the park. The 22-year-old played in 34 league matches for Crystal Palace last season, netting one goal and grabbing five assists.
The English talent is currently one of the most talented central midfielders in the Premier League. Hence, it is no wonder that the Red Devils are hoping to land him in this transfer period.
His current contract at the London club will run out in the summer of 2029, which could make it difficult for Man United to sign him on the cheap this month.

Will Wharton Be A Good Fit For Manchester United Boss Michael Carrick?
Wharton is a good tackler of the ball and can sense the danger well to earn possession back for his side inside his half. He usually clears his lines when required and is an accurate distributor of the ball as well.
The English sensation can shoot the ball with power from long range and is full of energy and running at the centre of the park. Wharton mainly plays as a defensive midfielder but can also serve as a box-to-box midfielder or an attacking midfielder if asked to do so. He is already quite familiar with the Premier League and won’t take much time to adjust to life at Man United.
Wharton would inject more quality and depth into Michael Carrick’s midfield. He is capable of challenging for a regular starting place at Old Trafford in the coming seasons.
At 22, Wharton has the potential to be a world-class player in his position someday. Hence, he would be a great fit for Carrick’s needs in this transfer window. With all things considered, Man United should focus on trying everything they can to bring him to the Theatre of Dreams this off-season.
