Martin County’s Matthewson commits to ECU

MARTIN COUNTY, N.C. (WNCT) -- Martin County linebacker Jordan Matthewson verbally committed to East Carolina today, becoming the 19th verbal commit for the Pirates' 2027 recruiting class. He chose ECU over Coastal Carolina, Duke, James Madison, and Old Dominion. "The coaches, they made me feel good, and I believe in what they can do for me," Matthewson said. "The players they develop, I trust in the process with them, and I believe in what they can do." Mattewson recorded 83 tackles, three sacks, and a forced fumble for the Gators on defense, while also adding over 600 rushing yards, 10 rushing touchdowns, and 197 receiving yards on defense.
