Los Angeles Dodgers third baseman Max Muncy celebrated reaching 10 years of MLB service time Sunday, but the Dodgers couldn’t bring home a win despite his best efforts. Muncy had the Dodgers’ most impactful swing of the day, tying the game at one apiece in the fourth inning with a solo home run, but a lack of collective offensive production saw the Dodgers lose their important series against the Milwaukee Brewers. The veteran noted the significance of the accomplishment for him, but said a win would have made his 10-year anniversary far more memorable. “I’ve never cared about personal accomplishments, it’s always about getting rings and winning, but 10 years is one of the few personal accomplishments I am really, really proud of,” Muncy said. “That’s one that I cherish. There’s not many people that can make it to that point. “For me, I was never supposed to make it to 10 years. So to be able to beat that and accomplish what I’ve accomplished here—it’s a special day. But then we go out there and throw a dud, so that knocks it down a little for me.”
Max Muncy says reaching 10 years of MLB service is one of his proudest individual accomplishments, but it's unfortunate that it came in a "dud" for the Dodgers. ??????https://t.co/KlE6aUwzZV — Dodgers Nation (@DodgersNation) August 17, 2026
How Did Max Muncy Respond to the Dodgers’ Struggles? Muncy has been solid for the Dodgers during their slump, coming up with some big hits to keep the Dodgers in games—such as his homer earlier or his three-run double against the Kansas City Royals on Monday. When asked about his team’s recent struggles, the current longest-tenured Dodger didn’t hold back. “We haven’t been good,” Muncy said. “It’s one of those stretches. We need to have a little bit more urgency, we need to fix some things, but ultimately it still is baseball. Things, I guess, are gonna happen. We very easily could win the next two weeks in a row and this gets put in the rearview mirror, but today really sucked. It was a big game, we kind of needed to win this one, and we didn’t.” Aug 14, 2026; Los Angeles, California, USA; Los Angeles Dodgers third baseman Max Muncy (13) hits a double in the sixth inning against the Milwaukee Brewers at Dodger Stadium. Muncy has been a key performer for the Dodgers all season, earning his first All-Star selection since 2021 in the process. This year, Muncy has 24 home runs, logging 60 RBIs over the course of the season as well. His .835 OPS keeps him above the .800 threshold for the fourth season in a row, and he has had a stellar glove at third base this season despite previously grading as a minus defender.
Muncy is still performing at a high level despite the Dodgers’ struggles, and they’ll hope he can continue producing throughout the remainder of the season. The Dodgers look to break out of their slump during their next series, which comes against the Colorado Rockies. The first game of their series against the Rockies comes Monday at 5:40 p.m. PT.
