Kylian Mbappe returned to training with Real Madrid at Valdebebas following his participation in the World Cup and spoke to Real Madrid TV after completing his session.

The French forward discussed his return to the club, working under José Mourinho, his preparations for the start of the season, and Real Madrid’s ambitions for the upcoming campaign.

“I’m very happy to be back and to have my first impressions of the team, the new staff, all my teammates, and everyone here at Valdebebas. It’s always good to be back here to play and to prepare for the season.”

Mbappe also spoke about Mourinho, revealing that the two were in regular contact during the World Cup.

“Mourinho and I talked a lot during the World Cup, and he talked to me a lot. I arrived a few days ago, and I think it’s very positive to have a coach like that, who knows how to win and knows how to give the direction on how to win. I think every player is delighted to have a coach who knows where he’s going, and that’s positive for us.”

With the start of the league season approaching, Mbappe said he is using the current training period to build up his fitness and workload.

“I’m trying to give my all because now is the time when we can work the most. Later, when the matches start, we have to manage the workload more. It’s time to go all out and get a feel for things so I’m ready for the first league match.”

Mbappe was also confident when discussing Real Madrid’s objectives for the season, insisting that winning trophies remains the priority.

“We have to win. I’m sure we’re going to win titles again this year. That’s what we want, and that’s what’s going to happen. I feel the team is eager, and we’re going to be focused all year to bring joy to all Madrid fans. There’s nothing more important than winning titles with the team, feeling that joy, and bringing joy to the fans.”

The Real Madrid forward also reflected on his debut for the club, recalling the experience of scoring and winning a trophy in his first appearance while adjusting to life outside France.

“My debut with Real Madrid was a very special day. The first match with your new team is always special, and when the team is Real Madrid, it always has something extra magical about it. Plus, it was a final, and everything went really well: a goal, a title, I had a smile on my face, everything was great… It was also a period of significant change for me because it was the first time I’d left my country, and the experience was very positive. I really like the club, playing in La Liga, living in Spain, and here. I know the city a little better now, and it’s good for a player to feel comfortable in the city where he lives. Now it’s time to take the next step and win titles.”

Mbappe reiterated that joining Real Madrid had been a dream for him but said his focus is now firmly on winning trophies with the club.

“For me, it was a dream to come here, and it’s still a dream to be here every day and have this opportunity. I’m a guy who knows how to enjoy the present, and I know how lucky I am to be here. But now we have to win. You can be anywhere, but especially at Real Madrid, you have to win titles, and that’s why I’m here. Like I said, we’re going to win titles this year.”

Mbappe concluded the interview with a message to Real Madrid supporters ahead of the new season.

“Hello, Madridistas. I want to send you a message to thank you for all the support you gave us during the two years I’ve been here. I know this year is going to be even more important and that we’re going to do great things together. We have to be ready, and we will be.”
