Three of the recently acquired Mets prospects had big nights on Tuesday.
Third baseman Jefferson Rojas, acquired from the Chicago Cubs in the Clay Holmes and Tyrone Taylor trade, showed why he's viewed as the club's new No. 1 prospect. The 21-year-old went 3-for-5 with a game-tying double in the ninth, a HR, and three RBI for Double-A Binghamton.
Rojas now has two home runs in 11 games since joining the organization and is up to 17 home runs on the year (all in Double-A). Overall, he's hitting .273 with a .813 OPS over 102 games this season.
Over in Syracuse, Émilien Pitre and Billy Amick both made an impact in their Triple-A debuts after being promoted on Monday.
Pitre, who was one of three players the Mets got from the Tampa Bay Rays in exchange for Freddy Peralta, led off and went 2-for-4 with a double and run scored. The 23-year-old has now played in four different minor league levels this season after starting the year in High-A and owns a collective .318 batting average.
Amick went 1-for-4 with an RBI double, but did strike out three times. He came to New York, along with Bruin Agbayani, from the Minnesota Twins in the A.J. Minter deal. The 23-year-old hit fourth in the lineup behind Ronny Mauricio (who went 3-for-3 with three RBI and a walk) and played first base, which he's split time at along with third base this season (48 games at 3B, 36 games at 1B).
