Meet the Mets

The Mets dropped the series finale against the Braves with a 6-3 loss. Zac Thornton was shaky on the mound and the bullpen also faltered. Luis Torrens, Luis Robert Jr., and Bo Bichette all hit home runs but it wasn’t enough to overcome the deficit. They now return home to face the Nationals for three over the weekend.

Francisco Lindor chatted about both his future with the team and how he views the state of the organization in general.

Lindor also dropped a new season of his podcast Café con Lindor.

Jefferson Rojas is settling in with his new organization after being acquired for Clay Holmes and Tyrone Taylor at the trade deadline.

Manager Andy Green said the team is fine with Jefry Yan’s exhuberant celebrations on the mound.

Tobias Myers’s struggles continued at the minor league level with his ERA sitting at 8.24 over his last eight appearances.

Around the National League East

The Braves could have AJ Smith-Shawver return to the ballclub soon after his latest rehab appearance.

The Marlins won their fourth in a row with their 8-2 win over their Pirates.

Zack Wheeler struggled in the Phillies’ 7-1 loss against the Cardinals.

The Nationals were blown out 12-6 by the Cubs despite a successful major league debut by Jackson Kent.

Around Major League Baseball

The Blue Jays claimed veteran reliever Paul Sewald after he was DFA-ed by the Diamondbacks.

The race is on for the title of home run king this season with four players battling it out for the crown.

Alot of potential baseball history was lost thirty-three years ago when the players went on strike and there’s no telling what will happen if history repeats itself in 2027.

Seattle catcher Cal Raleigh admitted he is a large part of the Mariners’ struggles this season.

The Padres continue to climb up the Wild Card standings after buying at the deadline.

This Date in Mets History

While more known for his one-hitters in 2012, it was on this date in 2010 that RA Dickey threw a one-hitter against the Phillies with opposing pitcher Cole Hamels getting the only hit.
