Miami Hurricanes running back Jordan Lyle was arrested Thursday, Aug. 13, on reckless driving charges, according to the Broward County Sheriff's Office. Jail records showed Lyle was booked into the Broward Main Jail on charges of reckless driving and aggravated fleeing or attempting to elude a law enforcement officer at high speed. Reports stated that Lyle was arrested on a Sunrise Police warrant and was released on $55,000 bail later that day. The Miami athletic department released a statement Friday morning, Aug. 14, stating, "We are aware of an incident involving student-athlete Jordan Lyle. As due legal process runs its course, we will have no further comment at this time."
Lyle, 20, is entering his junior season with the Hurricanes. The Fort Lauderdale native who starred at St. Thomas Aquinas High School played in 12 games his freshman season, rushing for 400 yards and four touchdowns. Injuries limited him to just six games in 2025, when he ran for 108 yards with a touchdown against Stanford in October. He did not register a touch across Miami's four College Football Playoff games as he fell behind freshman Gerard Pringle Jr. on the depth chart as the speedy counter to primary running backs Mark Fletcher Jr. and CharMar Brown.
