Michael Pittman Jr. cleared 85 catches in three straight seasons (2021–23), but his yardage has been a bit more muted since, totaling 1,592 yards over the past two seasons combined. He did manage a career-high seven touchdowns last year in Indianapolis, but as the overall efficiency of the Colts’ passing game fluctuated, his week-to-week floor made him a tricky asset on fantasy football rosters. Now traded to the Pittsburgh Steelers, is a return to 1,000 receiving yards in the cards?
Should You Draft Michael Pittman in Fantasy Football?
Pittman’s Redraft Fantasy Football Value
Pittman was dealt to the Steelers this offseason before we had clarity on the plans of Aaron Rodgers. However, with the future Hall of Famer returning under center for one final go-round, Pittsburgh avoided a complete offensive projection disaster.
In the short term, fantasy managers don’t have to worry about a quarterback carousel featuring Will Howard or backup options. That said, there is no question that the 42-year-old Rodgers is well below his historic prime when it comes to supporting multiple high-end fantasy weapons. DK Metcalf’s efficiency numbers took a hit last season as the primary target in this offense. With Metcalf and Pittman now poised to share the WR1 duties, we could be looking at two receivers splitting a passing volume pie that wasn’t large enough for a single player to consistently dominate a season ago.

Furthermore, rookie Germie Bernard joined this receiving room via the draft, and towering tight end Darnell Washington remains a heavy presence inline. In an explosive, high-volume offense, those would be minor footnotes. But in a system where there is so little room for error, those roster adjustments matter. In 2025, the Steelers’ passing game struggled to generate consistent high-end fantasy lines, rarely producing individual performances north of 15 or 20 PPR points in a single contest.
On the positive side, we know that Pittman is durable (missing only three games over the past five seasons) and that he commands targets, eclipsing 110 looks in each of those campaigns. A decade ago, that reliable volume would have comfortably locked him into the weekly flex conversation. In today’s game—where plenty of younger wideouts possess higher per-target upside—it is hard to justify giving Pittman a top-40 overall grade.
If you want to argue that Pittman’s short, timing-based routing style makes him a better natural fit for Rodgers than Metcalf, the logic holds up. But it is hard to see it moving the needle outside of emergency starter situations in standard-sized leagues.
Pittman’s Dynasty Fantasy Football Value
It is difficult to see how Pittman’s dynasty outlook improves dramatically in the near future. While he is a highly talented possession receiver, his environmental ceiling will likely remain capped for at least the next two seasons. Because Metcalf is under contract for the long haul, the target competition isn’t going away, meaning the true fantasy upside is a gamble even if the post-Rodgers quarterback plan works out cleanly.
Pittman’s seven touchdowns a year ago were the highest mark of his career, providing fantasy managers with a perfect “sell-high” window before the upcoming season kicks off.
