Dennis Schroder was just traded to the Charlotte Hornets, and NBA fans are having trouble wrapping their heads around it.

The Atlanta Hawks drafted Dennis Schroder with the 17th overall pick in the 2013 NBA Draft. In 13 seasons since, Schroder has established himself as a microwave scorer and a star in his role.

The German star has played for more than a few teams at this point, to put it mildly. On Friday, August 14, Shams Charania reported that Schroder was being traded to the Charlotte Hornets.

Having been with the Cleveland Cavaliers in February, 2026, this was another extremely brief stint for Schroder. And fans are starting to lose track of every team the 32-year-old has played for.

Dennis Schroder has been traded for the ninth time in the past eight years, and fans can’t believe it

Following the first five years of his playing career in Atlanta, Schroder has been unable to put down roots just about anywhere.

Over the course of his entire tenure in the NBA, he has been associated with 12 different franchises. This is counting the Hornets, and fans are in awe of how one player can be this level of a journeyman.

“He might be on all 30 teams by the time he’s retired,” one fan hilariously joked. “Death. Taxes. And Dennis Schroeder trades. Just inevitable,” wrote another.

“Poor Dennis Schroder, it was all downhill after he turned the Lakers down,” a third fan observed. “Bro is taking a tour of the NBA lol,” a different comment read.

One fan did put a positive spin on the whole thing, saying, “Y’all laugh at Schröder for getting traded constantly but all that means is he still holds value in this league at his age.”

It is far from ideal for any player to be constantly traded every few months. Schroder can score and score well, but there has to be some issue teams are so keen on moving on from him. It’s a wild ride for him, to say the least.
