The Kansas City Chiefs face an early three-point deficit in their matchup against the Los Angeles Rams in Week 1 of the NFL preseason. Former Missouri Tigers kicker Harrison Mevis gave Los Angeles the upper hand with a 25-yard field goal in the first quarter. Mevis rose to prominence in the collegiate ranks with the Tigers between 2020 and 2023, earning the nickname "the Thiccer Kicker" for his unusually robust build. He garnered first-team All-American and All-SEC honors in 2021 but entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent in 2024. After initially signing with the Carolina Panthers, Mevis briefly moved to the UFL for a stint with the Birmingham Stallions before eventually inking a contract with the New York Jets last year.
