Welcome to the Morning Commute. Today we’re talking about how our Tiger boys are enjoying their new lives in the NFL:

Zion Young grabbed his first NFL tackle in the Ravens 24-7 win over the Eagles. Josiah Trotter, Jr. one-upped his former teammate, snagging two tackles in the Bucs 24-16 win over the Jets. Chris McClellan put a tackle on the board while his Packers lost 28-9 to the Steelers. Former Tiger Ty’Ron Hopper also chipped in four tackles and one for a loss. And last but certainly not least, Toriano Pride led the Buffalo Bills with six tackles in their 29-14 preseason win over the Panthers. Not a bad impression to make if you’re a seventh-round pick!

As for the other two Tigers who were drafted this year, they had less fortunate starts. Kevin Coleman, Jr. missed his chance at game time with a day-to-day injury, while Keagen Trost was removed from the game with a hamstring injury in the first quarter.

In which Colin explores how Austin Simmons’ left-handedness is changing Mizzou’s offense:

“Just the way it spins and how it drops over the shoulder, it becomes more about the stance towards the sideline, so that’s probably the biggest difference,” [wide receiver Donovan] Olugbode said after practice Friday. Olugbode and [wide receiver Cayden] Lee are both experienced SEC wide receivers, but [wide receiver Caleb] Goodie has had to make far more adjustments in his transfer process. “It’s definitely challenging, but I’d say I’ve become accustomed to it. It’s just playing faster and playing with a left-handed quarterback; it’s just getting used to that,” Goodie said.

The article also covers the impact on running backs, which is a fascinating thing to consider given the importance of the run game!

In which Dan looks back his previous year with the Track & Field team:

… I shot 66 practices and 14 meets, including three SEC Championships and two NCAA Championships. I traveled a total of 18,736 miles across nine states. I shot 107,532 photos, edited and delivered 5,497 photos, which took up a whopping 5,283 gigabytes of storage on my archival server. My first year with the Track & Field program was nothing short of transformative. I met so many wonderful people, visited some fantastic cities and venues, all while pushing myself further than I ever have.

Some excellent photography (and writing) in this piece! Check it out!

In which Mizzou sets a program record on a way to a 3-1 soccer win over Murray State:

[Senior forward Brianna] Buels opened the scoring just 15 seconds into the match — a program record for the fastest goal in Missouri soccer history, and an immediate answer to the offensive struggles that plagued the season opener against Western Kentucky. Freshman Rylie Morse controlled the ball in midfield and slipped it through to Emily Derucki, who passed up her own shot to square the ball to Buels for a tap-in from point-blank range.

We love an instant goal, don’t we folks?

Over at Rock M+, there’s a lot of discussion about the Mizzou Hoops roster if/when Mark Mitchell announces he’s not coming back to Missouri. Feel free to join us by getting in your feels!
