Jake Rogers has somehow found himself in the middle of one of the strangest MLB records you will ever see. The veteran catcher has played for four different MLB teams in just 21 days, setting a new record for the shortest span in which a player has appeared for four different major league clubs. According to Baseball-Reference’s historical data, Rogers has suited up for the Detroit Tigers, Baltimore Orioles, Boston Red Sox and Chicago White Sox during that stretch.

Since then, he’s bounced around the league at an almost unbelievable pace, ultimately becoming a member of four different organizations in just three weeks. The previous record had stood for 122 years. In 1904, Frank Huelsman played for four MLB teams over a 42-day span, holding the record for the fewest days between appearances for four different clubs. Rogers has now shattered that mark by more than three weeks. It’s an especially bizarre record because changing teams four times in a single season is already rare. Doing it in only 21 days is something almost impossible to imagine in modern baseball. He made his MLB debut with the Tigers in 2019. Now, seven years after his debut, Rogers has added a bizarre piece of baseball history to his résumé. The 21-day span is unlikely to be broken anytime soon.
