The Brooklyn Nets came into the 2026 NBA offseason with the goal of improving the roster enough to be more competitive during the 2026-27 season where the Eastern Conference will be tougher than before. Brooklyn began this summer by trading for Minnesota Timberwolves forward Julius Randle, but it seems that most of the Nets fan base is optimistic about the team's prospects next season.
In a poll posted on NetsDaily on Monday, 63% of the voters (out of 19) believed that the Nets will win somewhere between 30 games and 39 games over the course of the 2026-27 campaign. The poll closes in three days from this writing, but the next-biggest percentage of voters (26%) believe that Brooklyn will win somewhere between 20 games and 29 games.
Last week, Bleacher Report put out its predictions for how each of the 30 teams in the NBA will perform and the outlet projected the Nets to finish with a 22-60 record. The 26% of voters could be onto something as BetMGM puts Brooklyn's win total over/under at 24.5, putting them on track to have a better season when compared to their 2025-26 campaign when they finished with a 20-62 tally.
Not only did the Nets add Randle to the mix this offseason, but they also acquired guard Keon Ellis and center Mo Wagner while also re-signing center Day'Ron Sharpe and forward Josh Minott in free-agency. On the other side, Brooklyn sent center Nic Claxton to the Chicago Bulls in order to complete the Randle deal and forward Ziaire Williams left in free-agency to sign with the Los Angeles Lakers.
Time will tell if the Nets added enough to the roster to be better than they were last season, assuming that young players like Mikel Brown Jr. and Egor Demin are able to play above their expectations. However, even with most of the league doubting that Brooklyn will be much better than they were last year, there are some Nets fans who believe that the roster can perform significantly better than others are giving them credit for.
