On Wednesday, Al-Khelaifi's PSG claimed the UEFA Super Cup following a 2-1 victory over Aston Villa. The French club celebrated capturing a second straight Champions League title earlier this year, with PSG currently the most coveted name in world soccer. Yet while the PSG President was beaming in Salzburg following his side's triumph, the same could not be said for FIFA chief Gianni Infantino, who is currently fighting to retain his position.

Kylian Mbappe drops World Cup truth bomb after absurd third-place loss to England Donald Trump sparks outrage with Harry Kane World Cup comments -Credit:Image Photo Agency, Getty Images The beleaguered FIFA President has tarnished his standing with a string of self-inflicted setbacks, the most significant of which has seen soccer federations across the globe band together to block Infantino from selling a stake in the World Cup to private equity. With Infantino appearing vulnerable, the question of who could step in as FIFA president remains unanswered, as per The Mirror US. Al-Khelaifi, who also serves as a member of UEFA's Executive Committee and chair of European Football Clubs (EFC), has been mentioned as a potential successor to Infantino. He additionally serves as chairman of Qatar Sports Investment (QSI), which acquired PSG in 2011, subsequently leading to his appointment as chairman of the French club. Despite the speculation, he appears to have little desire to pursue the FIFA presidency. Following PSG's victory over Aston Villa, Al-Khelaifi was asked, "Would you like to be the FIFA president? A lot of people believe that you should be the one to [replace Infantino]." To listen to the latest episode of 'All Out Soccer' - CLICK HERE He replied: "I am very happy, very, very happy, to be president of Paris Saint-Germain. Happy to continue." Infantino is due for re-election next year. Should he survive any attempts to remove him beforehand, he will campaign for his fourth term as FIFA President, which would represent his final stint at the helm of the organization. One prominent figure who believes Infantino must stay in his role is U.S. President Donald Trump. The two share a close bond, having collaborated both before and during the 2026 World Cup in North America. Taking to social media, Trump labeled calls for Infantino's replacement a "mistake", warning the World Cup would never be "successful or profitable" again without him. "Fifa would be making a terrible mistake if, for any reason, they even considered replacing president Gianni Infantino," Trump said. "He is fantastic, having just presided over the most successful World Cup, by four times, ever presented. If he is gone, it will never be as successful or profitable again."
