Last week, Nathaniel Brown was officially presented as a Bayern Munich player after making his move from Eintracht Frankfurt this summer. The left back joins the German Rekordmeister on a five-year deal and a fee that was roughly €55M, having completed the move shortly after Germany was knocked out of the World Cup in the round of 32 by Paraguay.

At his first official press conference in Tegernsee, it was revealed that Brown will wear the number 11 kit for FC Bayern, a number most recently worn by Nicolas Jackson and Kingsley Coman, but he’s set to make it his own.

A native of Amberg in Bavaria, a move to Bayern was always written in the stars for Brown. In his first press conference as a Bayern player ahead of the FC Rottach-Egern friendly, he explained how surreal it is for him to finally be a player for FC Bayern, coming from an area of Bavaria where everyone is a massive fan.

“It’s special for me because I come from Bavaria. Everyone in Amberg is a Bayern fan, it’s mad that I’m now here,” the defender marveled (via @iMiaSanMia).

It’s been a long journey from the Regensburg youth ranks all the way to making his way to having successful tenures at FC Nürnberg and Frankfurt before making the move this summer to Bayern, but Brown is ready to hit the ground running for the Bundesliga champions. He’s coming off of a World Cup where he was the starting left back for Germany under Julian Nagelsmann and one of the things Vincent Kompany really likes about his profile is that he can also be used in midfield.

As such, Brown is eager to get started and has lofty goals for himself for this season. “I want to show what I can do. I know what I can do and what I can’t do. The coach has already shown me what I do well – I’ve spoken a lot to him. I want to play as many matches as possible, help the team and ultimately win trophies,” he said before making his first official appearance in the 15-0 friendly win over Rottach-Egern (via @iMiaSanMia).
