There has to be something said about the constant complaining that fans do in regard to the NBA and its players.
The Philadelphia 76ers were handed a light schedule in terms of back-to-backs. There have been many on X and other social media platforms who feel this is the NBA rigging the season for superstar LeBron James.
How about it has nothing to do with James and has everything to do with money? That’s the reason the 76ers were given the maximum number of national televised games. Philadelphia was given 43 national games this season. If anyone didn’t know, LeBron is still the face of the NBA. If someone wants to make that argument, you should have complained about it when he was on the Lakers, Heat, and Cavaliers.
When James was on the Lakers last year, they were on an average of at least 38 nationally televised games. The other part of it being a benefit for the NBA is that now James gets to play at 7ET, which allows more people to have the chance to watch him since he no longer plays on the West Coast. There have been so many complaints about how late James played, and now that he’s on the other side of the time, it’s still a problem.
If there are more viewers for the games, that means a higher revenue income for the next season. If the revenue is higher, then that means everyone’s favorite team has a chance to land a high-caliber player, so quit complaining.
Now let’s talk about the back-to-back games. It makes zero sense to give Philadelphia a large number of back-to-backs simply because it would simply mean they’ll be resting their stars. Fans want to see the best players take the floor, and that can’t happen if they’re constantly hurt. Everyone knows the history of Embiid, and surely they would like to see him play.
If the NBA is rigged because of back-to-backs, then how come it doesn’t translate to a championship? Boston, Atlanta, and Indiana were all tied for fewest back-to-backs, and none of them managed to make the conference finals.
It’s ok to be tired of a player; it’s just called fatigue. But don’t ridicule a player when he has no control over how they schedule games. What’s worse is all these complainers will be glued to the television every night James appears on the screen and still find something to complain about.
