Nebraska soccer (1-0-1) held its home opener on Sunday afternoon against South Dakota (1-0-1). The Huskers forced a draw against the Coyotes 1-1 after trailing for over 40 minutes of play.
South Dakota scored in the 41st minute, finding the back of the net before halftime and putting Nebraska in the deficit. The Huskers, despite outshooting the Coyotes (25-9) and shots on goal (9-2), finally delivered the equalizer in the 82nd minute.
Freshman defender Emma Donnelly fired the game-tying shot for Nebraska, notching her first career goal. She finished with two shots on the afternoon. Ella Rudney led the Huskers in shots, totaling eight with one on goal. Ava Makovicka, Sadie Sant, and Reese Snowden all recorded three shots with two shots on goal for Nebraska.
Freshman forward Kate Eggett also earned three shots. Avery Gillahan started in the net for the Huskers and face three shots on goal. She earned two saves.
Nebraska remains home for its next match, welcoming No. 2 Notre Dame on Thursday night. The match is set for 7:05 p.m. CT on the Big Ten Network.
