The Seattle Seahawks are signing former first round pick Terrion Arnold. Under normal circumstances, a player getting cut by one team and signed by another during the same offseason isn’t that unusual, but in this case the player was recently arrested on felony charges for kidnapping and armed robbery. And the charges have not been dismissed.
Arnold was arrested in June. The incident took place in February when men were allegedly kidnapped and held at gunpoint with Arnold reportedly watching a livestream. The Lions, who drafted Arnold with the No. 24 pick two years ago, released Arnold a few days after the arrest.
With the Lions cutting ties with Arnold you might assume the rest of the league would wait to see what happened with the legal process before bringing him in. Yet he had multiple workouts with teams including the Texans, Giants and Saints according to Adam Schefter. And now he’s close to signing with the Seahawks.
NFL reporter Peter Bukowski reacted to the news by ripping the NFL for allowing it to get to this point without putting Arnold on the Commissioner’s Exempt List.

Arnold and the Seahawks
ESPN’s Adam Schefter said that the next step after Arnold signs would be for the NFL to decide whether to put him on the exempt list, so maybe Arnold needs to be signed to officially go on the list. We’ll probably find that out when the NFL makes their decision.
Another interesting part of this story is the fact that the Seahawks are the Hard Knocks team this year. Part of his workout was shown in the second episode of the season and if the team has to deal with any fallout from the signing, it will presumably be caught on tape.

The Seahawks preseason will begin on Saturday night against the Dallas Cowboys. The game will air on NFL Network.
