Roma’s talks for Rodrigo Mora seem to have collapsed over conditions making the option to buy an obligation, letting Galatasaray in. ‘There’s a lot of noise, nothing more than that,’ said Francesco Farioli.

The two clubs had seemingly reached a full agreement on Tuesday, with the €7-10m loan for one season, then an option to buy for a further €40-43m that would become an obligation if certain conditions were met.

This is where the problems arose, because they could not decide on what conditions would activate this purchase.

Why Roma talks for Mora stalled

Porto wanted more guarantees that the move would be completed, such as European qualification or a certain number of appearances, whereas it’s reported Roma preferred it to rely on Champions League places or even a Scudetto victory.

There has been zero progress in the last 48 hours, and it doesn’t look as if either side will budge from their positions.

“The reality is there is no news,” said coach Farioli in his press conference when asked about Mora and Roma.

“It was a week with a constant bombardment of news, information, details, micro-details, but the truth is at the moment there’s a lot of noise and nothing more than that.

“Specifically regarding Rodrigo Mora’s case, he is young, but already has enough experience to manage that noise. He is a big FC Porto supporter and there is respect, so no doubt about how we’re going to use him and the contribution he’ll make while he’s a Porto player.”

Meanwhile, with Roma refusing to move from their position, O Jogo in Portugal claim that Mora is instead being targeted for a transfer by Galatasaray.
