The Mets' good vibes have continued to roll after the trade deadline. The club closed out a three-game sweep of the Nationals on Sunday afternoon, chipping away and scoring a 4-3 victory behind Luis Torrens' two-run home run and Jared Young's RBI double. The Mets' task of keeping the momentum going will get tougher as they welcome the Padres, one of the hottest teams in the National League, for a three-game series, beginning at 7:10 p.m. on Monday at Citi Field. While the Mets have won nine of their 12 games since the deadline, the Padres are 10-2 during the same stretch including a six-game win streak that was snapped by the Guardians on Saturday. The Padres and Phillies are tied for the second and third wild card spots in the NL. The Mets, who improved to 56-69 on Sunday, are 13 fames under .500 for the first time since June 27.
