NEW YORK — The Mets are hoping that Sean Manaea can continue his resurgence on Saturday afternoon.
The veteran left-hander has logged four straight quality starts and is coming off a season-high 11-strikeout performance against the Pirates.
Manaea will be on the mound as the Mets aim to try and grab a series victory over the Nationals at 4:10 p.m. Saturday at Citi Field.
The Mets grabbed the series opener on Friday night, breaking through for four runs between the sixth and seventh innings to surge past the Nats for a 4-1 win. Francisco Lindor and Jared Young homered in the win
The Nationals will have Brad Lord on the mound to start Saturday's game. The 26-year-old right-hander made his second start of the season against the Reds on Aug. 9, allowing one earned run on two hits with four strikeouts in 2⅔ innings.
