Official: BVB Sign Giannis Konstantelias

It’s official, folks! BVB have signed Giannis Konstantelias on a deal that runs until 2031. The quick-footed Greece international joins from PAOK Thessaloniki for about €32 million all-in.

Ole Book moved with lightning-quick reflexes after backing out of a deal for Saïd El Mala, needing less than a week to secure a competitive alternative at an even more competitive price. Paired with the near-done signing of Joey Veerman, this looks like three shrewd decisions from Dortmund’s new sporting director. 

As for Konstantelias, the Greek operates in central attacking areas, relying on trickery and intelligent ball movement to make opportunities for himself and his teammates.

Speaking of teammates, Kosta Karetsas will be a familiar face for Konstantelias, with the two having represented their nation together. Fans of the Greek national team will be thrilled to have two of their brightest stars training together every week. One can’t help but recall Dortmund’s polish dynasty in the 2010s… could it be time for a Greek dynasty at BVB?
