Djibril Sidibé (34) has signed for newly promoted Ligue 1 side Le Mans FC, following the expiry of his contract at Toulouse FC.
The 2018 FIFA World Cup winner with France has been a free agent since the start of the summer and the expiry of his deal with Le TéFéCé. The full-back has bided his time in finding a new club and has now put pen to paper on a two-year deal (with the option of one further year) with Le Mans, who this season will return to France’s top flight, following last season’s promotion from Ligue 2.
Last season, Sidibé was still a regular at Toulouse, however, the club, and more specifically, their new manager, Jens Berthel Askou, opted against renewing his deal. This will be the former France international’s fifth club in Ligue 1, following Toulouse, ESTAC Troyes, AS Monaco, and Lille OSC. It remains to be seen whether he will be up to speed to participate in Le Mans’ Ligue 1 opener, at home to Stade Brestois on Saturday.
