Penn State hockey’s 2026-27 recruiting class filled another forward spot with a commitment from Justin Larose:

Larose has spent the last five seasons in the QMJHL. He played for the Victoriaville Tigres from 2021 until midway through the 2024-25 season, when he was traded to the Drummond Voltigeurs. With the Tigres, he was slow to get going early in his junior career before finding his footing in 2023-24. In 231 career games for Victoriaville, he had 71 goals and 85 assists.
In his final season in juniors, he tallied 88 points in 64 games in the regular season for the Newfoundland Regiment. He added a solid nine points in 12 playoff games for the Regiment before deciding to make the move to the NCAA and join Penn State. At age 21, he is one of the oldest recruits in the Lions’ incoming class. Larose was initially committed to Michigan, but the Wolverines have brought in a larger recruiting class than initially expected.
Right now, it is hard to say exactly where Larose fits in Penn State’s lineup. He started to pick up the scoring pace later in his junior league career, but the competition will be tougher in the NCAA. Larose is one of the smallest forwards on this roster at 5’9”, 174 pounds. He will need to use his speed to his advantage against the bigger players in the Big Ten.
