Safe to say that the Los Angeles Dodgers offense has found its spark. And all it took was a trip to Coors Field. For just the second time this month, the Dodgers won a series with their 7-6 win over the Colorado Rockies on Tuesday night. Shohei Ohtani struck again — as he did during Monday's series opener — with a two-run shot in the top of the third, giving the Dodgers a 3-1 lead. That marked Ohtani's 30th long ball of the season. Though the Rockies would tie the game the following half inning with back-to-back doubles by TJ Rumfield and Connor Norby, a surprising spark of offense was ignited by an unlikely source. Kyle Tucker, who entered the game hitless in his last 26 at-bats, came up to the plate in the top of the fourth and ripped a go-ahead RBI double down the right-field line that allowed Tommy Edman to score. A sigh of relief is not close to comparable to what Tucker felt standing on top of second base looking onto the Dodgers' dugout. Then on, the runs started pouring in for Los Angeles, with Teoscar Hernández following up Tucker's double with an extra-base hit of his own, and Freddie Freeman put up the sixth Dodger run via a sacrifice fly. Freeman would return in the bottom of the sixth with an RBI single to cap off the Dodgers' scoring. On the pitching side, Eric Lauer had a doozy of an outing in the Mile High City. Lauer was able to get through five innings, but not before he gave up four earned runs on six hits. In his last seven starts, Lauer is 1-4 with an ERA of 4.66 in 38.2 innnings. With the recent news of Edwin Díaz landing back on the Injured List with neck inflammation, manager Dave Roberts appointed Tanner Scott to be the primary closer for the time being. Scott's first appearance since the Díaz announcement was a test in itself. He came into the game with two outs in the eighth inning with the tying run up to the plate. He induced a grounder to end the frame and escape the jam scoreless. Then came the ninth, in which Scott was able to secure a four-out save on a season-high 27 pitches. With the win, the Dodgers improve to 76-51 on the season. Los Angeles will look to secure their first series sweep this month with Roki Sasaki on the bump on Wednesday.
