The preseason AP Top 25 was released on Monday, and the Oklahoma Sooners came in at No. 10 in the nation. That's just one spot back from where OU landed in the preseason US LBM Coaches Poll released on Aug. 4.

The Sooners are one of five SEC teams ranked in the top 10 and nine SEC teams in the top 25.

Ohio State takes the top spot, receiving 40 of the possible 63 first-place votes in the poll. They're followed by Big Ten foe Oregon at No. 2. The Ducks received 14 first-place votes. Georgia comes in at No. 3, followed by Notre Dame at No. 4, and the Texas Longhorns at No. 5.

The defending national champion Indiana Hoosiers received eight first-place votes but landed at No. 6 in the AP Poll.

This season, the Sooners will play six teams ranked in the top 25 of the preseason AP Poll along with the Florida Gators, who came in at No. 27 with the second most vote points. In Week 2, the Sooners will travel to Ann Arbor to take on the No. 16 Michigan Wolverines and then, in Week 4, go to Athens to face the No. 3 Georgia Bulldogs. In Week 6, the Sooners will take on No. 5 Texas.

The Sooners will be tested in the first half of the season against three top 16 teams away from the friendly confines of Gaylord Family Oklahoma Memorial Stadium. If they can come out of their first six games 4-1 or better, it'll set the stage for what could be a fantastic season for the Sooners.
