After weeks, nay, months of double-secret chatter about Ole Miss having an on-field sponsor for the 2026 football season, the rumors have stopped swirling.
Chase Parham of Rebels247 reported on Friday that an agreement between Ole Miss and Progressive Insurance is nigh, and the insurance company’s logo will soon be painted on the field of Vaught-Hemingway Stadium for the 2026 season. You may recall fellow insurance heavyweight Aflac ponied up the dollar bills to have its logo on the field for the Florida game last season.
Parham also says that the sponsorship agreement will likely be a three-year deal, which means this time next year, someone will have to make sure no one is standing on the Progressive logo during the 2026 national championship ring presentation before the first home game in 2027. HEY-OOOOOOOOOH.
At this point in the post, I’m legally required to talk about revenue streams, partnerships, BRANDS, and all the other buzzwords that make my eyes glaze over. Not to dismiss those because money is important to building a good roster, but that’s as much as I want to talk about them.
We all know the operation needs money, and the more of it the better. And if those agreements and buzzwords mean the winning continues and Ole Miss players are contractually obligated to thank eight different sponsors in postgame interviews like they just won Daytona, then I’m all for it.
The point I’m getting at here is a simple one — this is easily the best Dr. Rick ad for Progressive:
