Pacers guard talks about the Warriors passing on him during 2020 NBA Draft

Current Indiana Pacers point guard Tyrese Haliburton recently made a podcast appearance, opening up about the early days of his career and what could have been. During that discussion, Haliburton spoke about some of his potential landing spots on draft day and his pre-draft workouts. Although Haliburton eventually wound up with the Sacramento Kings as the No. 12 overall selection, he recalled having his best workout with the Warriors, who owned the No. 2 overall pick. "That was the best workout of my life, the best workout of my life," Haliburton said. "I swear I didn't miss and then Steve [Kerr] stepped into my workout and was like 'He needs to do conditioning shooting; we need to see it full court' and then I didn't miss again, and I was like 'They're drafting me at two' and then in the interview they were like 'We know you fit us perfect. We know you fit us perfect, but we don't know if we could draft you at two.'" Ultimately, the Warriors went on to select Memphis center James Wiseman. Wiseman lasted just 60 games with Golden State and has yet to live up to the hype of a No. 2 overall pick. At the moment, he's made just five appearances in his last two NBA seasons and is currently a free agent. That said, Wiseman has experienced his fair share of injury issues, tearing his meniscus with the Warriors and his Achilles later on in his career. However, given how their careers have panned out, Golden State would have been much better off with Haliburton, Devin Vassell or even LaMelo Ball.
