Packers HC Matt LaFleur takes subtle shot at Keisean Nixon for 'punished' comment originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here. The Green Bay Packers are heading towards the 2026 NFL season with a few question marks across the roster, especially on the defensive side of the ball. Micah Parsons is going to miss the first four to five weeks of the season, potentially more, after coming off an ACL tear. But the cornerback room might be one of the biggest issues. It's a real competition there, and not all the CBs are fans of it. Keisean Nixon recently complained about the CB competition, saying that he's being "punished" amid this competition. Matt LaFleur clapped back, as Ryan Wood of USA Today reports that LaFleur took a not-so-subtle jab at Nixon over his comment. Packers HC takes subtle jab at Keisean Nixon "He loves making a headline, doesn't he?" LaFleur said. That simple quote from the Packers head coach on his own player is very interesting. Calling out his own player so publicly is a notable change, as coaches typically refrain from putting their own players on blast. While he's not directly calling out Nixon, LaFleur's comment is clearly not the biggest fan of Nixon's comment. Wood also shared LaFleur's direct comment on Nixon's "punished" comment on the CB competition. "The way I look at it is this: I guess our whole team is being punished, because everybody is in competition," LaFleur said. So, what exactly did Nixon say to generate such a response? Rob Demovsky of ESPN reported that Nixon said the following: "I guess I'm being punished right now, I guess, I don't know," Nixon said. "I don't really worry about what I'm running in camp, the ones and twos, I just keep my process and compete." Nixon clearly didn't get on LaFleur's good side with this comment, as the Packers head coach isn't a big fan of the cornerbacks' commentary about being in this competition. More NFL news:
