The Green Bay Packers are moving forward with three quarterbacks. On Saturday, the Packers released rookie quarterback Kyron Drones, leaving the roster with starter Jordan Love, veteran backup Tyrod Taylor and Kyle McCord at quarterback. Drones, a rookie out of Virginia Tech, finished 0-for-1 passing and took three sacks across two drives in his NFL debut against the Pittsburgh Steelers in the preseason opener. The three sacks he took lost 26 yards, and the Packers went three-and-out on both of Drones' drives. The Packers did not immediately make an addition to the roster, so an open spot is available moving forward. With Drones out, McCord now appears to be the favorite to win the third quarterback job. A second-year player who was drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles last year, McCord completed 12 of 16 passes against the Steelers.
