Waller would come out of retirement in 2025 and join the Miami Dolphins, but would battle with injuries. In the nine games that he appeared in, he would total 24 catches for 283 yards and 6 touchdowns. He proved his resilience in Miami, working with new Panthers associate head coach/offensive specialist Darrell Bevell, who was Miami's passing game coordinator/quarterbacks coach.
Waller is now 33 years old and will look to continue his career in Charlotte. In 2015, he was a sixth-round pick by the Baltimore Ravens and played nine seasons for different teams before temporarily retiring in 2024.
For his career, he has 374 receptions for 4,407 yards and 26 touchdowns.
When Waller, who turns 34 in September, officially signs with the Panthers, he will become the oldest non-specialist on the roster. The team will need to make a corresponding move because the Panthers are currently sitting at 91 men.
Waller joins a tight end room in Carolina looking for an identity and should receive a high number of targets as a security blanket for Bryce Young.
