The New England Patriots have continued making moves this offseason.
They announced that they have released tight end Mitch Van Vooren to make room for offensive lineman Greg Van Roten, who the team officially signed on Tuesday.
Van Vooren began his NFL career with the Seattle Seahawks as an undrafted free agent in 2025. He also spent time in the Cleveland Browns’ ranks prior to signing a one-year, $885,000 deal with the Patriots in free agency on July 22. Van Vooren has yet to play in an NFL game in his career.
New England will move forward with a tight end room consisting of Hunter Henry, Eli Raridon, CJ Dippre, Jack Westover and Tanner Arkin.
The Patriots officially welcome Van Roten to New England amid a wave of injuries at guard, with Andrew Rupcich on injured reserve and Ben Brown out for multiple weeks. Van Roten was most recently the New York Giants’ starting right guard from 2024-25 prior to signing with New England.
