We may be laser-focused on the start of the new college football season, but the college basketball season will be next in line. And after previous reports locking in some non-conference matchups for the Nittany Lions, we now have a fully ironed-out non-conference basketball schedule to look forward to. Penn State officially released its non-conference slate on Thursday.
Penn State's men's basketball season opener will be scheduled for Monday, Nov. 2, with a home game against Canisius. Penn State will remain home for its second game of the season later that week when it hosts Chattanooga on Thursday, Nov. 5.
Penn State will face off with in-state rival Pittsburgh in The Palestra in Philadelphia for its home-away-from-home matchup in the historic venue. The Nittany Lions will face the Panthers in Philly on Sunday, Nov. 8.
Penn State will then return home for its next three games in the Bryce Jordan Center, starting with a game against Mercyhurst on Thursday, Nov. 12. Penn State will then host New Haven on Sunday, Nov. 15 and IU Indy on Wednesday, Nov. 18.
Penn State will head to the Bahamas to take part in this year's Battle 4 Atlantis, with exact matchups to be determined later. Penn State will be part of an eight-team field that includes Marquette, Memphis, Mississippi State, Texas A&M, Virginia, Wake Forest, and Xavier. The Battle 4 Atlantis will take place over Thanksgiving weekend (Nov. 25-27).
Penn State will host Albany (Dec. 1), UT Martin (Dec. 16), and Lafayette (Dec. 19) in the Bryce Jordan Center in December. The Nittany Lions will wrap up the non-conference portion of the schedule with a matchup against Saint Joseph's in Hershey, Pa. in the GIANT Center on Dec. 22.
